Evacuation exercise 1961 - 2018

"In Sweden, evacuation from the larger cities had a prominent position in the late 1950s and early 1960s civil defense planning. A number of evacuation exercises were staged, of which the largest took place in Trollhättan / Vänersborg 1958, Västerås 1960, Stockholm 1961 and Malmö in 1962. The same year as the Stockholm exercise, the third revised and, in turn, the most extensive edition of the citizen's manual was issued. If the war comes: guidance for Sweden's national. This described the urban and rural displacements carefully and on a lookup, the evacuated family was portrayed with packing and in warm, unguarded clothes. "(Cronqvist, Marie, 2008)

On September 15 2018 another staged evacuation exercise took place. At 10.00 the bus departed from Stockholm. The journey's goal was the bomb shelter in Västra Berget in Söderhamn and the opening of the exhibition Instead of graves. On the way the bus stopped to see the exhibition Lilla Domedagsvalvet at Wij Trädgårdar in Ockelbo. Bus travel was done with participating artists in the two exhibitions. During the trip there was a lecture by Thomas Roth, 1st intendent at the Army Museum, and presentation of Anna Asplind's project The dream of a tower.
